Feature & Follow Friday (#3)

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Alison Can Read & Parajunkee's View. This week's question is...

Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?

I don't think I've ever really started a book thinking that I'm going to hate it- I'd rather read something I think I'm going to like! But I did procrastinate for a long time on reading George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. My friend kept on recommending them to me, but I thought I would find them boring as I dont usually read much high fantasy. Also I felt like I'd be wasting reading time I could be spending with something better, as all the books in the series are so long!Even after I started watching the (brilliant) TV series I still resisted reading the books for quite a while. I couldn't believe how obtuse I'd been when I finally got around to starting A Game of Thrones. AMAZING! I raced through the whole series after that and never once got bored. :) sometimes it's good to take a chance!

Hello to anyone hopping through! Make sure to leave a link to your FF so I can check it out. :)

  1. I took ages to pick up A Song of Fire and Ice too, and was on book three when the first book came out on TV. I'm now wondering whether to start Book 5 or wait to hear that Book 6 is about to come out before I continue :)

    1. It might be a good idea to save Book 5 for a bit, it seems we still have a fair wait for Book 6!

Thanks for following, I followed you back! :)

  2. I love you blog!

I started reading the first book in the series and didn't like it. And then I was like, okay let me try again. And now I am obsessed!

It's good you gave them a second chance! I found the beginning a little hard to get into actually, but luckily as I'd seen some of the TV series by then I knew that good stuff was coming up! :D

It is good to hear you like the Game of Thrones books. A bunch of my co-workers read them and keep recommending them to me. I love the TV show. I think I am going to finally cave and buy these. Thanks for the recommendation!

    1. Thanks for the follow, I'm following you too! :) I hope you enjoy them when you read them! Even when you've watched the TV series and kind of know what's going to happen, there's still enough extra details to keep you entertained! Plus I don't know if I would have remembered who everyone was without having watched the show! XD

  4. I love GRRM. I put off reading the rest of the series after I first read GoT because I was so traumitized. I'm glad I did go back to the series though!

    1. They are definitely tough reads! I've never known anyone to be quite so brutal to their characters as GRR Martin is! I still get upset thinking about Lady!
